Whilst the Venom was originally developed as a universal fitment (VM7000), vehicle specific fitments are now also available. Pipercross has been making high performance air filters for the motor sport and domestic markets for over 25 years. Based in Northampton, England the company is situated in the country along with some of the biggest names in motorsport engine design and manufacture in the world.
In these 25 years their high performance filters have helped many race teams win major championships on the British, European and World stage. The development work carried out whilst dealing with these teams has enabled them to produce some of the most technologically advanced filters on the market.
This can be demonstrated by the release of the VIS Induction Kit, the ultimate in cold air intake technology: Tuned carbon fibre intake, Free-flow vector air filter, Developed with F1 and WRC technology. These are the things found under the bonnet of the most advanced competition car. These features are now available for many road cars for drivers who require the ultimate from their engines.
Although motor vehicle technology is moving at such a rapid rate, Pipercross continues to cater for the most basic carburettor cars with a large range of competition air filters available off the shelf. From Ram pipes and socks for SU's, to a PX600 base plate and filter for the latest throttle bodies on the market.

WHY FOAM?
At the heart of every pipercross air filter is a specially developed polyurethane foam which acts as the filtration medium, having both higher performance and life expectancy than paper.
The reticulated foam is created by a chemical reaction, it is then placed in a gas filled combustion chamber where a controlled explosion burns away any complete cell walls in the material to form a skeletal cellular structure which is strictly quality controlled. This process ensures that the foam consists of tiny open cells which trap contaminants.
The cell size of the foam, its porosity, is measured in Pores Per Inch (PPI). Pipercross air filters use up to six layers of foam with varying porosity descending in pore size in the direction of air flow.
The filter's long life span is due to the dirt storage capacity of the foam cells and the filters construction which means no air passage is blocked until all the cells in a layer of foam are completely filled. It is designed to hold contaminants in the outer layer, inner layers act as a secondary measure to ensure an exceptionally high level of engine protection. |
